GIFT OF LIFE MARROW REGISTRY ANNOUNCES SERVICE OPPORTUNITY WITH ALPHA PHI OMEGA NATIONAL SERVICE FRATERNITY

Boca Raton, FL, August 30 – Gift of Life Marrow Registry is proud to announce a new service opportunity with Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity (APO) to raise awareness among college students throughout the country about the life-saving potential of bone marrow transplants for blood cancer patients. The Fraternity will support Gift of Life’s mission by hosting donor registry drives on campuses and virtually.

The need to find transplant donors for blood cancer patients is more urgent than ever, and while the pandemic has made Gift of Life’s recruitment efforts more difficult, the organization has continued to find creative ways to meet the challenge. The opportunity with APO, the single most represented gender inclusive intercollegiate service organization in the U.S., will give participants a way to be of service to others.

“Since our founding, APO members have had a significant impact on their campuses and communities as they strive to become leaders and changemakers,” said Alpha Phi Omega Director of Member Engagement Ashlee Sundermann, CNP. “We look forward to building our relationship with Gift of Life and educating our members and their peers about the opportunity to save a life.”

“Working with Alpha Phi Omega is exciting because it gives us an opportunity to continue our effort to recruit young potential donors, who are the most requested group from transplant centers due to their healthiness and ability to produce greater numbers of the needed stem cells,” said Gift of Life’s Director of Organizational Advancement Marti Freund. “Everyone has the power to save a life with the simple swab of the cheek, and donors do not have to be APO members to join the registry at fraternity-sponsored events.”

Gift of Life’s recruitment efforts include programs and partnerships with a myriad of fraternities and other student organizations at college campuses around the country. Additionally, anyone between 18 and 35 years old may join the registry by simply requesting a cheek swab registration kit to be delivered to their home by visiting www.giftoflife.org/APO.
